Could This Popular Mexican Restaurant Be Returning to Michigan After 20 Years?
Too often we see restaurants we know and love close their doors, for what seems like forever. But now, we have a glimmer of hope on the foodie horizon of Michigan...
A blast from the 90s past seems to making a return to the restaurant scene.
Mexican Restaurant Returning After Nearly Two Decades
Have you heard that CHI-CHI's Mexican Restaurant is making a comeback?
I remember going to CHI-CHI's for just about every memorable family celebration in the 90s.. Birthday? CHI-CHI's. Graduation? CHI-CHI's? Didn't feel like cooking? CHI-CHI's.
CHI-CHI's first opened back in 1975, and the last of the CHI-CHI's restaurants across the nation closed in 2004.
CHI-CHI's Mexican Restaurants Opening in 2025
Since then, the CHI-CHI's trademark has been owned by Hormel Foods. Hormel Foods has granted "Michael McDermott, son of CHI-CHI'S™ founder, use of the CHI-CHI'S™ name on physical restaurant locations which are expected to open in 2025."
At this time, there's no word on exactly when and where these are going to be opening. But boy oh boy would I love for one to open in the greater Lansing area.
There are plenty of places where it can go... Lansing's west side, Okemos, in or around Eastwood Towne Center... I'm just saying.
