If you're easily offended by a cheeky business name, you may want to keep scrolling.

If you're willing to look past it, however, you just might discover one of the best cinnamon rolls in Michigan. A friend told me about it, and I decided to stop in after catching a recent concert at Acrisure Amphitheater in Grand Rapids.

Why Everyone Is Talking About Slutty Buns

Tucked inside Chef Shack in the East Hills neighborhood of Grand Rapids, Slutty Buns has quickly become one of the city's most talked-about dessert destinations. The late-night bakery opens Friday and Saturday evenings and serves massive scratch-made brioche cinnamon rolls piled high with homemade frosting and creative toppings until they sell out.

And "sell out" isn't just marketing.

Owner Amanda Stauffer told me every single night they've been open, customers have lined up and bought everything she made.

The idea came during a drive home after realizing Grand Rapids had plenty of late-night food options—but nowhere to grab an over-the-top dessert.

"I just wanted to give people a reason to laugh," Stauffer said of the playful branding that has become part of the bakery's identity.

From Zero Baking Experience to Selling Out Every Weekend

Surprisingly, she had virtually no baking experience before launching the business.

Stauffer taught herself how to make cinnamon rolls in less than two months, admitting that just days before opening she wasn't even sure she'd have a roll worthy of selling. Today, she rotates inventive flavors alongside her signature "CinnaSlut," with creations featuring everything from blackberry cobbler and ube to chocolate-filled rolls and seasonal specialties. Weekend brunches even feature savory options.

What Makes These Cinnamon Rolls So Popular?

After seeing these rolls in person, it's easy to understand the hype. They're enormous, ridiculously soft, unapologetically messy and absolutely loaded with frosting. And that's the takeaway before you even taste them.

Despite the provocative name, the focus here isn't shock value.
