Yet another great event that happens every year in Mid-Michigan has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

And here's the real bummer. This event was going to be celebrating it's 50th year this year! We were really looking forward to it, too. But obviously in an abundance of caution due to COVID-19, Charlotte Frontier Days will not be happening this year.

100.7 WITL and I have been affiliated with Charlotte Frontier Days for so long that I can't even remember how many years it's been. But it's been a lot.

It all started when we began talking to John Dykstra from Candy Ford in Charlotte about the radio station being a promotional vehicle (no pun intended) for Frontier Days. At that time John was handling promotions for Frontier Days and was a member of the board there.

Like I said, I don't know how long it was, but it was a couple of days ago. Anyway what has transpired over the years has been a great partnership between Charlotte Frontier Days and WITL and we were really looking forward to celebrating the 50th Anniversary of this great event this year. Lets not forget that a lot of the reasons that we have had such great relationships is because of the people who run Frontier Days and who attends. They have all become friends to me and WITL so we will miss them this year.

...it comes with sincere heartfelt regret to inform the Community of Charlotte that Charlotte Frontier Days Board has elected to cancel this year’s festival. This was a very difficult decision to make and was not made with ease, however we feel as this is the best decision for the safety of our board and the Charlotte community.

That's not great news of course, but here's some for you. You will be able to enjoy the rodeo, parade, saloon, craft show and every other thing that has made Charlotte Frontier Days such a great festival next year as the new date will be September 8th through September 12th, 2021.

Keep watching the Charlotte Frontier Days website here for more information.
