For years, the Dundee location of Cabela's sporting goods store has been one of the most visited places in Michigan. In recent years, Cabela's added locations in Saginaw and over near Grand Rapids. But now, according to CNBC.com, Cabela's is in trouble.

Rumors abound that Cabela's is being bought out by Bass Pro Shops. And while the rumors have been out there for the last week, a TV station in Billings, Montana took the extra step and quoted an employee of the Cabela's there in Billings as saying it's a done deal and the change in ownership will happen on January 1st.

I haven't been to the Cabela's in Grandville or Saginaw, but I was always a big fan of the Cabela's in Dundee and I've probably made more trips to the Bass Pro Shops in Auburn Hills. I don't know if there's much difference in the prices, but I'm a bigger fan of the trophy mounts and the fresh water aquarium at the Cabela's. Just my two cents. I don't know what will happen to the three Cabela's. Can Michigan support that many big outdoor stores? We might be about to find out.
