Hang on to your double mocha latte. I've got bad news for fans of "Avatar" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".

The aliens are all dead. Or never really existed.

According to Phys.org, astrobiologists from the Australian National University have just published a paper, concerning life on other planets, that states:

""Early life is fragile, so we believe it rarely evolves quickly enough to survive."

They go on to say, "the vast majority of fossils in the universe will be from extinct microbial life, not from multicellular species such as dinosaurs or humanoids that take billions of years to evolve."

In defense of aliens, I have to believe, with ALL the galaxies and stars and planets in the universe, there has to be at least a FEW alien civilizations out there. I'm hoping that's what they thought when they used the term "the vast majority".

Here's the full story - with the saddest headline ever.
