Brooks & Dunn Turn Grand Rapids Into a Giant ’90s Honky Tonk

Brooks & Dunn brought their Neon Moon Tour '26 to Grand Rapids Friday night, and for a few hours, the new Acrisure Amphitheater basically became one big country honky tonk.

Let's be real. What else would you expect?

Brooks & Dunn Celebrate 35 Years of 'Brand New Man'

The tour celebrated the 35th anniversary of Brooks & Dunn's debut album, Brand New Man. That was the album that gave us "Brand New Man," "My Next Broken Heart," "Neon Moon," "Boot Scootin' Boogie," and "Lost and Found."

Not a bad way to introduce yourselves to country music.

Brooks & Dunn has gone on to become one of the most successful duos in country music history, piling up 20 #1 singles, CMA and Grammy Awards and the 1996 CMA Entertainer of the Year honor.

Willow Avalon Opens Brooks & Dunn's Grand Rapids Show

Willow Avalon, from Carlton, Georgia, got the evening started for those who showed up early at Acrisure Amphitheater.

Her country-pop driven set pulled from her two Atlantic Records albums and included "Hickest Woman," "Work to Do," "Cardinal Sin," "Easy on the Eyes," "Southern Belle Raisin' Hell," and "Pink Pocket Pistol."

David Lee Murphy Brings the '90s Hits

After Willow Avalon, '90s hitmaker David Lee Murphy and his band cranked things up with an hour-long set featuring his own hits along with songs he co-wrote for some pretty familiar names in country music.

He opened his set with "Everything's Gonna Be Alright," and then launched into some songs better known by other artists (although he had a hand in writing them). Fans got to hear Murphy's take on Blake Shelton's "The More I Drink," Kenny Chesney's "Pirate Flag," Parker McCollum's "Hurricane," and Jason Aldean's "Big Green Tractor."

Murphy saved a couple songs everybody was waiting for until the end, closing his set with "Party Crowd" and "Dust on the Bottle."

And yeah, good luck standing still when that one starts.

Brooks & Dunn Turn Grand Rapids Into a '90s Country Party

By the time the headliners took the stage Friday night in Grand Rapids, it felt like somebody had taken a giant '90s country bar and dropped it right into Acrisure Amphitheater.

Fiddles. Steel guitars. Line dancing.

And a whole lot of songs everybody knew.

Brooks & Dunn rolled through hits including "Hard Workin' Man," "Play Something Country," "Red Dirt Road," and "Rock My World (Little Country Girl)," with country line dancers scattered throughout the venue kicking it up whenever one of those familiar dance-floor anthems hit.

Kix and Ronnie slowed things down, too, with favorites including "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone," "Cowgirls Don't Cry," and, of course, "Neon Moon."

Grand Rapids Firefighters Get a Brooks & Dunn Shoutout

The night ended with a pretty cool Michigan moment.

Brooks & Dunn recognized members of the Grand Rapids Fire Department's Rescue 1 from the stage before wrapping things up with "Only in America."

And if anybody in the crowd hadn't already been standing, dancing or singing along, they were by then.
