UPDATE as of 7:35PM -

The events in southern California today are going to add fuel to this fire. Would the Inland Regional Center have been attacked today if there had been some question about getting return fire from a civilian? I know the suspects were (supposedly) heavily armed and wore armor, but the threat of armed civilians or even armed guards (how did these guys walk in there like that?) might have made a difference. And BTW - nice work by the cops out there.

The numbers are in - and they're up.

According to the wzzm13.com , on Black Friday 2015, more Americans had their backgrounds checked while buying guns than any day on record. There were 185,000 requests for background checks on November 27th, an increase of 5% over last year's Black Friday. Here's the story.

I'm not surprised. Americans are concerned. Concerned for their personal protection. And concerned that they may lose the right someday to buy guns or the ammunition for their guns. Of course, that same Friday was when the shootings in Colorado at the Planned Parenthood office occurred. Allegedly carried out by a guy who appears to be mentally unstable. A guy who needed help. Or locked up. Probably both. According to the New York Times, Robert Dear was abusive to his wives, possibly raped a neighbor (the charges were dropped) and a guy who told his neighbor to put a metal roof on his house, “because the government satellites can see through your roof.”

This country needs to figure out what we're going to do about guys like Robert Dear. Not threaten to ban the sale of guns and ammo.

Until then, you can look forward to some record breaking Black Fridays.

End of rant.
