At least one online review site seems to think so, and judging by the pictures, it's hard to argue.

Mudgie's in Detroit Named Michigan's Best Sandwich Shop

OnlyInYourState.com recently revealed its list of "The 50 Best Sandwich Shops Across the U.S.", choosing one exemplary sandwich shop from each state. For Michigan, it's Mudgie's Deli and Wine Shop in Detroit.

Here's what the site had to say about Mudgie's:

Located in Corktown Detroit, it's been serving Michiganites since 2008. The food is all made from scratch with meats roasted or smoked in house. Patrons love the Barrett, a corn(ed) beef classic, and the Jerk.

Since they turned us on to this delicious-looking slice of heaven, we won't hold "Michiganites" against them.

What to Order at Mudgie's

Mudgie's features a vast array of hot and cold sandwiches, many of which are one-time special offerings that may or may not ever return again. The shop is known for a number of custom creations such as its namesake "The Mudgie", which is served warm and features house smoked beef brisket, roasted turkey breast, vegetable cream cheese, romaine, red onion, and Honeycup mustard on an onion roll.

If you're ever at the MGM Grand in Detroit, Mudgie's is only about a 10-minute walk away. It's open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The deli is closed on Mondays.
