Best Michigan Festivals Happening This August

Summer is arguably the best time of year to get out and enjoy all the best that Michigan has to offer.

Here are eight festivals and events around the Mitten State you won't want to miss this August.

Pig & Whiskey, July 31 - August 2

If your perfect summer weekend smells like slow-smoked barbecue and sounds like loud guitars, Pig & Whiskey belongs on your calendar.

This Detroit favorite serves up mouthwatering BBQ, cold drinks, national and local live music, and plenty of reasons to loosen your belt before heading home. It happens in Corktown July 31 through August 2.

Lansing JazzFest, August 5-9

Whether you're a lifelong jazz fan or just love discovering incredible live music, Lansing JazzFest delivers.

Happening August 5-9 in Old Town Lansing, world-class musicians perform across multiple stages, creating one of Michigan's premier music festivals. Grab a lawn chair, explore the neighborhood, and let the soundtrack of summer take over.

National Blueberry Festival, August 6-9

If you love blueberries, this one's your jam. (See what I did there?) South Haven celebrates the National Blueberry Festival August 6-9.

Enjoy parades, live entertainment, carnival rides, craft vendors. and blueberry treats in just about every form imaginable.

Howell Melon Festival, August 13-16

Maybe melons are more your thing. The Howell Melon Festival takes place August 13-16.

Head to downtown Howell for carnival rides, live entertainment, parades, craft vendors, delicious food, and of course, plenty of sweet local melons.

Woodward Dream Cruise, August 15

Even if you're not a car person, the Woodward Dream Cruise is something you have to experience at least once.

On August 15, be part of the world's biggest one-day automotive celebration as thousands of spectators line Metro Detroit's iconic Woodward Avenue to view miles and miles of classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods, and customs.

Old Town ArtFeast, August 15

Art, music, food — it's all part of Old Town ArtFeast in Lansing on August 15.

For one day, Turner Street turns into an open-air gallery featuring hundreds of artists, live entertainment, delicious local eats, and plenty of opportunities to find a one-of-a-kind treasure to take home.

Michigan Renaissance Festival, August 22 - October 4

Hear ye, hear ye! It's time once again for the Michigan Renaissance Festival!

Happening in Holly, this ren faire takes place weekends beginning August 22 through early October. Leave modern life behind and spend the day in a 16th-century village filled with knights, jousting, jesters, musicians, costumed characters, artisan shops, and yes, giant turkey legs.

Romeo Peach Festival, August 27 - September 7

Yes, Michigan is known for its cherries and blueberries and melons... but don't sleep on the peaches!

The Romeo Peach Festival has been celebrating the state's sweetest harvest for generations with parades, carnival rides, live entertainment, tasty peach treats and more. It's happening this year from August 27 through Labor Day weekend.
