According to ClickOnDetroit, the people at travel website Big 7 Travel have announced that Michigan has two of the top 50 beaches in America. They have Oval Beach in Saugatuck (watch out for the photo-bombing Saugatuck Buck) at #10 and Empire Beach at Sleeping Bear Dunes (come on—that's 65 miles of possible great beaches) at #14. I know, we have more that shoulda made the list. Where's Grand Haven? We've got so many in Michigan that your favorite may not even have an official name.

The #1 beach in America? Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island in Georgia (if you've been there, explain why it's so great). #2 is Kalalau Beach, Hawaii, on the island of Kauai. I went to Kauai on my honeymoon. If you go, I can recommend the beach at Hanalei, but if you're going to Kalalau Beach, get ready for a long hike—it's out in the middle of nowhere. At #3 was Pfeiffer Beach in California. I've never been there, but I know it's about an hour's drive south of Monterrey, which is a cool town with a great aquarium and museum.
