Christmas is coming, and I thought I'd take a few minutes to HIGHLY recommend a book I just finished called,  "The Heart and The Fist" by Eric Greitens.

I don't know about you, but I rarely sit down anymore and read a book from cover to cover. This one I did. Couldn't put it down. It turns out that Eric went to the same high school in St. Louis County in Missouri that I went to - Parkway North. (I went there a LONG time before him, and I've never met him - I didn't even know he went to Parkway North until I was a third of the way through) Eric went to college at Duke University and then went on to become a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford - where he also fought on the Oxford boxing team. During the summers in college Eric worked as a humanitarian volunteer in places like Cambodia, Bolivia, Rwanda and Bosnia. It was in these places that he became an advocate of "using power to protect the weak". So, he joined the military and became a U.S. Navy SEAL. During his time as a SEAL, he hunted down terrorists and survived a car bombing in Fallujah in Iraq. The first part of the book is a fascinating look into what really goes on in third world countries that most of us have only heard about on the news. The second half gives us a first hand account of how SEALS are trained and what their day to day world is really like. Turns out it's a little different from "Call of Duty - Ghosts".
