If you visited the Michigan Renaissance Festival on September 1st or 2nd, you might want to get vaccinated for the Hepatitis A virus. The good news - if you get vaccinated sometime in the next couple of days, you should be fine. According to MLive.com, "Oakland County Health Division was alerted this evening (Sept. 13) that an attendee of the Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly has a confirmed case of hepatitis A and was ill while attending the festival on September 1." (It wasn't me.)

As long as you get it within 14 days of contact, the vaccination should prevent the disease. And that's a good thing - 'cuz Hep A is apparently pretty nasty. And Michigan is in the middle of a big Hep A outbreak, so it might be a good idea to get vaccinated, even if you weren't at the Renaissance Festival. It's not their fault - could've been anywhere there was a big crowd that weekend. So, if you've been in any crowds lately...
