By now you know I'm a big fan of the show "The Curse of Oak Island". Those in the know already are aware of the fact that the driving force behind that show is the Lagina brothers - Rick and Marty, who grew up in the Upper Peninsula. Season 6 for them starts on November 13th.

But, I had no idea that one of the stars of Gold Rush, on Discovery Channel, is ALSO from the U.P. Rick Ness, who worked for Parker Schabel for years and on the current season has struck out on his own, is from Escanaba, Michigan. Last Friday, during the season premiere, Rick was shown visiting his dad's business, Roy Ness Contracting, in Escanaba.

A couple of years ago, somebody else must have heard something about this, prompting Rick to post this on Twitter:

From what I saw on the first episode, this season started a little rough for Rick. I'll be rooting for him.
