Goodbye, Joann: Both Lansing Locations Now Set to Close in 2025
Got a Joann gift card? Better use it before February 28.
Nationwide fabric and crafts retailer Joann now says it will close all its locations in 2025, including one in Lansing it had hoped to keep open.
Earlier in February, Joann announced plans to shut more than half its existing stores across the country as part of Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization. Only 7 of its more than 40 Michigan locations were slated to remain open - including one on West Saginaw Highway in Lansing. Now they're all going away.

Going-out-of-business sales have already begun at some locations, and will begin shortly at those that haven't already started the liquidation process. According to the FAQ page at joannrestructuring.com, customers have until February 28 to use any gift cards they may have. Returns are no longer being accepted.
A Big Loss for Lansing Crafters
For Lansing's craft and sewing community, losing both Joann stores (the afore-mentioned one on West Saginaw Highway, along with the one in Frandor) is a major blow. The stores' departure leaves Michaels and Hobby Lobby as the only remaining major chains in that retail space.

"I'm going to miss Joann," said Emily Chauncey of Lansing. "It's just more laid back than those other stores. I feel bad for the employees."
No exact dates have yet been announced for the Joann closures. The company expects "it will take a number of weeks" to wrap things up.
