5-Foot Michigan Grandmother Takes 220-Pound Black Bear
Karen Kuch is 73 years old, not even 5 feet tall and has 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. And a Ruger .44 Magnum rifle. And THAT'S what she used to take a black bear in the U.P. last Thursday.
According to MLive.com, Karen, from Frankenlust Township near Bay City, got the 220-pound bear near Newberry, on the first day of her hunt. But not until after she couldn't get a shot at the first bear they saw and missed the second one. So, out came the rosary beads - and she took the third one, which turned out to be the biggest of all three.
Jimmy Gretzinger, from the "Michigan Out of Doors" TV show, was along to film the hunt, so we'll all be able to see it on the show in the near future. (Jimmy told me his best guess right now is that it will air either October 1st or October 8th)
