I was hoping this was FAKE NEWS, but, according to NASCAR.com, Dale Earnhardt Jr is retiring at the end of the 2017 NASCAR season. He says it will be his final FULL season, which leaves open the possibility of some races here and there - like Michael Waltrip.

You can't blame the guy - after the scare he had last year with a severe concussion, I was a little surprised he came back this year.

Details are unfolding right now and his website has crashed. We'll update here when we find out more.
