In 2014, the IRS reports about 8100 people filed tax returns in Michigan, reporting at least $1 million in adjusted gross income for that tax year. According to MLive.com, that number was up from 2010 when 4949 were over the $1 million mark. That 2014 number is not a lot - only 0.2% of the returns.

Those that made more than a million a year, made, on average, $2.9 million.

On the OTHER hand, 42% of the Michigan returns reported income of LESS than $25,000.
