You might have not one, but TWO chances to see the northern lights up north in the next 10 days. The best chance is forecast for Labor Day weekend.

According to MLive.com's Mark Torregrossa, The University of Alaska has issued a forecast Kp index of three for early next week. At that index there's a slight chance you could see northern lights way up north. The first chance to see them will be next Tuesday and Wednesday. The problem with that is the cloudy weather forecast for Tuesday night.

Fast forward to September 1st—the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. If you're up north for that weekend, especially if you're north of the Mackinac Bridge, you may get a show. The Kp index that day is 5, which may set off the lights far enough south for you to see them.

Good luck. Send photos. Here's the story.
