COVID-19 has changed a lot of things for us this year. Some of us have had to change our holiday plans. Northwest Community Schools Adopt-a-Family is going to be doing things different this year. Last year they have provided 65 families with toys, books and other household items. This year they will be doing a virtual fundraiser for 80 families in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Adopt-a-Family program is currently accepting online donations. They've already raised close to $4,500. The money will provide children with clothing, toys, books, food and more.

Marnie Hade, a teacher who has taught at Northwest Community Schools for 26 years says,

"We have found that many of the people who have reached out in the program are very much counting their blessings and the silver linings of this pandemic. That is why they want to be a part of this program and help someone else. It’s been incredibly heartwarming.”

Adopt-a-Family kicked off in 2003 and has been helping thousands of children for years. The program has set up a guide of what it is you can provide with your donation. The program provides each children 3-18 years old with non-perishable food items, toys, books, and clothing like underwear, socks, T-shirts and more. Children in the program are also to give a "wish list item" like new bedding, a winter coat or boots.
