When We Talk About Made In Michigan, How Do We Forget “Jiffy” Mix
How Does This Always Miss The Made In Michigan List
Be honest. When you think of Made In Michigan stuff, what immediately comes to mind?
I can practically run down a list of articles I've done on the topic.
And trust me, in Detroit you can get your coney several ways.
Deluxe, loose burger, loose burger special, the list goes on and on.
But in Detroit, I have never been to a place that had a Flint Coney.

Faygo and Better Made Chips
There are over 50 Faygo flavors. Including some new ones I ran across while taking photos. Candy Apple? Golden (which will once again infuriate you Vernors fans)? Cotton Candy?
To live in Michigan is to know two iconic pops.
Faygo and Vernors.
And for some strange reason, those of us from the Mitten State swear by our favorite ginger concoction as a cure all for all that ails us.

Olive burgers, Traverse City cherries, QD Chip Dip...the list could go on and on. And it often has.
"Jiffy" Mix is Made In Michigan Proud Since 1930 and beyond
But we seem to "always" forget about the Pride of Chelsea, Michigan that's been around since 1930. Says so right there on the box.
"Jiffy" Mix is sold EVERYWHERE. Cornbread purist will turn their nose up at you if you mention it because they'd rather make their own for scratch.
But for the rest of us, this Michigan staple has been around long enough and stood the test of time. You don't even have to be kitchen aficionado to be able to throw together a pan of cornbread or tin of muffins. All you have to do is add egg and milk and boom...cornbread. You've probably got a box in your pantry right now.
You can order a free recipe book and they'll send you one.
And once we get past this whole pandemic thing, you can book a tour at the plant in Chelsea.
So the next time you're putting together a Made In Michigan list or box, don't forget the "JIFFY" mix.
