According to the Lansing State Journal, mile marker 124 around Leroy Township on I-96 west was the location of a two semi crash early Friday morning. You may have even witnessed the site as you were traveling.

Here's what happened. The accident took place as one of the trucks that contained plastic items was stopped on the shoulder of the highway with a flat tire when the other truck, hauling watermelons, side swiped the stopped semi. The impact caused the moving semi with the watermelons to end up landing in a ditch on it's side. One of the drivers was sent to the hospital to be evaluated.

Now, how do you get the truck with the watermelons out of the ditch? Well first, you have to remove all of the watermelons from the truck, and that took awhile.

Eventually, with watermelons removed, the truck was pulled out of the ditch and the site of the accident was cleared.
