Tips on Keeping That New Year’s Resolution
It's that time again where you think about the last year and make a resolution for the next year, but how do you keep it? That's what I'm here to help with. I've got some tips so you can you keep your New Year's Resolution for a while—maybe even all year. Also, remember that keeping your resolution even for a month is good and also a good jumping off point in keeping your next resolution for the next year.
First, you want to be realistic with your New Year's resolution. Don't be trying to run a marathon in a year or lose 100 pounds in a year. These resolutions can be hard to do and also might discourage you from trying a resolution again. Go for a resolution that you will be able to accomplish. If you are looking to lose weight, make a resolution to lose half the weight you want to lose, and when you do it, you can shoot for more.
Next, make a plan on how to finish your resolution. This means you need to do some research on your New Year's Resolution. Not on New Year's Eve, but research for a week or so before starting it. Also make a pros and cons list on the resolution and see if it is even good for you to do.
Another great tip is to reward yourself whenever you reach a bench mark in your New Year's resolution.
Most experts will say that the real way to keep a New Year's Resolution is to stick to it. If you stick to your resolution for 21 days, it will make it easier and become more normal instead of a job to accomplish. In addition, don't beat yourself up if you mess up on your New Year's Resolution as you will mess up a time or two at the beginning, but if you stick with it, you will succeed.
