Thomas Rhett is bringing the joy of Christmas a little early with two new recordings that are sure to put you in the holiday spirit. The original tune "Christmas in the Country" and a cover of the classic "The Christmas Song" are Rhett's first Christmas song releases.

Rhett co-wrote "Christmas in the Country" with David Garcia, Ashley Gorley and Chris Tomlin. The lyrics bring the listener into Rhett's hometown and his own Christmas traditions: "Man, I sure do love this time of year / Snow starts covering up the old John Deere," he croons in the first verse, setting the mood for the song.

Although "The Christmas Song" is not an original song, Rhett makes it his own and even adds a smooth, jazz flair to the classic anthem. The recording proves that Rhett can take on any genre.

"Christmas is hands-down my favorite time of year," Rhett says in a press release. "We have so many Christmas traditions in our family that include a lot of festive music, but I’ve never recorded anything myself. [My wife] Lauren has wanted me to make some Christmas music for a long time, so this year felt like the right time to finally take a stab at writing something and to put my own twist on one of the all-time classics."

Aside from his new releases, Rhett is also celebrating a 2020 Grammy Awards nomination for his fourth studio album, Center Point Road. The record is up for Best Country Album.
