This Michigan Company Plans to Sell (Lots of) Pizzas – in Italy
Michigan-based Domino's sells pizzas from 16,000 stores in 85 countries. And you might be surprised to find out that they have 28 stores in Italy, mostly in bigger cities. But Domino's is about to amp it up, all over Italy.
According to TheLocal, Domino's has announced they will be adding almost 900 stores over the next decade in Italy, where pizza was invented. Seems like a bold move, but Alessandro Lazzaroni, CEO of Domino's in Italy, says Domino's wants to have two percent of Italy's pizza market share over the next decade and become the biggest food delivery company in Italy, Some people on Italian social media likened the plan to "selling ice to Eskimos".
And while Italy is probably thought of as being a place to go for gourmet food - they must like American fast-food. Italy has the fourth-highest number of McDonald's locations in Europe
