Holt Brewery and Restaurant Closes, But There’s Still Hope
It seems like we've lost another local restaurant, at least for now.
Summerlands Brewing Company in Holt has temporarily closed its doors.

Owner Brian Hunt made the announcement in a video that was posted to Summerland's Facebook page. In the video, Hunt is sitting at the bar having a beer and explaining why Summerlands is closing.
The last day for the restaurant was Saturday, October 3.
Why Summerlands Brewing Is Temporarily Closed
Unfortunately Summerlands, like many restaurants, has been running into issues with "financial pressures and lower-than-expected-sales". So at least temporarily, the brewery and restaurant will be shutting its doors.
I'm so sad to see this place close. The tropical theme was super fun, and the food was absolutely delicious. When I tell you that Summerlands had the best coconut shrimp I've ever had, I mean it. And I'm very particular about my shrimp.

Not to mention, the Huli Huli chicken was some of the most delicious chicken I've ever had. You could slap that Huli Huli marinade on a flip flop and it would taste good.

Hopefully this isn't the last of Summerlands, and one day we can see this brewery and restaurant return to its full glory.
Summerlands first opened at 1957 Cedar Street in July 2024. In the over two years that Summerlands was open, it was home to more than just island vibes and good food, it hosted live music, DJ trivia, and more.
Other Lansing-Area Restaurants Have Closed Recently
Summerlands joins other Lansing-area restaurants that have recently closed their doors. Edmund's Pastime recently closed, as did the dining portion of REO Town Clubhouse. However, the pool hall is still open at REO Town Clubhouse.
