Today on "Stump the Chumps", our friend Paula, from Jackson, asked "Who invented Christmas lights?" Our guess came from Jeff's (from Bake n' Cakes) dad Will, who thought it might be Thomas Edison. Of course Thomas Edison invented the light bulb in 1879, so....

We were so close. According to Wired.com, Thomas Edison's business associate, Edward H Johnson, then Vice President of the Edison Electric Light Company, took 80 red, white and blue electric lights and wrapped them around his Christmas tree on December 22,1882.

Huge success? Not really. Because people at the time didn't really trust electricity, Christmas tree lights didn't get really popular until the 1920s.
