Yelp reviews can be helpful when trying to make a decision on where to eat, for fun activities and finding a good hotel to stay at for an overnight. Negative Yelp reviews are a fun source of entertainment. I love "stratight shooters" who call it like it is. At the end of the day we don't owe businesses anything, we are the ones spending money with them.

I have done staycations in town with my family in the past. I was curious about the Red Roof Inn in East Lansing. Not because I want to take my family there, moreso because of the property itself. It's curb appeal is non existent and I am a firm believer that if you can't maintain the outside of your hotel, odds are you aren't doing a good job with the inside of the hotel. I used to manage hotels for Marriott and Hoiday Inn, there are standards that hotels must maintain to keep the "flag". The "flag" is the brand that the owner of the hotel partnered with. Holiday Inn, Hilton and Marriott are all brands that have "flags" to maintain.

Each time I drive by the Red Roof Inn in East Lansing, it's right off the highway near Jolly and Dunkel, the place is dead, slow business. Is it because it's not a desired brand? Is it because their standards are terrible? Maybe the negative Yelp reviews have someting to do with it.
