New Chick-fil-A Opening This Week in Lansing

If you've been keeping up with the Lansing food scene for 2026, you'll know that the year has kicked off with a bang.

Lansing’s Restaurant Boom Continues in 2026

So far, over 15 restaurants have opened and there are about a dozen more on the way.

In fact, one of those openings is happening this week!

If you're on Lansing's south side and hungry, the newest place to grab a bite to eat is Chick-fil-A.

Of course, Chick-fil-A is not new to Lansing or the Greater Lansing area—there are already locations on West Saginaw Highway in Lansing and one on Grand River Avenue in Okemos.

When and Where the New Chick-fil-A Opens

Mark your calendars for bright and early: Thursday, April 7 at 6:30 a.m. That's when the newest Lansing Chick-fil-A is opening its doors. It is located at 6420 South Cedar Street, just south of Edgewood Boulevard near Target.

There are no deals for early birds, but there is a cool promotion going on for opening day. If you show up wearing some kind of cow attire—think cow ears or spots—you can get a free menu item (select items, while supplies last). Additionally, Chick-fil-A is also celebrating by donating $25,000 to the Greater Lansing Food Bank.

This new Chick-fil-A was announced back in September of 2024. At that time, we learned that it was going to be built at the former site of University Motor Mall, which closed in 2015 and had sat vacant since then.

Another Chick-fil-A Coming to Lansing

Chick-fil-A isn't done with Lansing after this, as there are plans to build another location near Eastwood Towne Center at the site of the former Comerica Bank. There's no word yet on when it will open, but construction is taking place right now.
