Normally, when you think of movies being made your mind goes straight to Hollywood. And to be fair, that has been the place that movies traditionally have been filmed.
However, Hollywood isn't the only place being put on the silver screen. With past incentives as they were, Michigan has been and continues to be a place to come to film movies.

Sometimes when Michigan is being filmed in movies, it's intended to be Michigan. Basically, using Michigan as the literal background. A perfect, shining example would be 8 Mile. But that's not always the case.
Sometimes Michigan is just used as a backdrop or a set to a made up destination. The best example of that would be when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was filmed in East Lansing back in 2014. More specifically, inside the Eli & Edythe Broad Art Museum on Michigan State University's campus. The art museum provided as the fictional Lex Luther's mansion.
