Michigan’s getting a new weather warning
After January 3rd, if you're driving in southeast Michigan, you might be concerned about a "Snow Squall Warning" in effect. According to MLive.com, snow squalls cause more deaths than any other weather phenomenon, due to massive pileup accidents on highways.
These new snow squall warnings will be issued after January 3rd in the test area of southeastern Michigan, for snow with visibility 1/4 mile or less, lasting more than 15 minutes. The closest counties around us affected are Livingston, Shiawassee and Washtenaw. If the warnings turn out to be a help, all National Weather Service offices will adopt them next winter.
