There's a new initiative from the Michigan State Police that starts today that is targeting distracted commercial drivers. It's called "Eyes on I-94" and it means that if you travel anywhere along I-94 this week, you're most likely going to see some more police officers on the highway. "Eyes on I-94" is part of a statewide initiative towards the "Zero deaths" traffic safety campaign from the Michigan State Police and the Michigan Department of Transportation. You can read more about the traffic safety campaign by clicking here.

Here are some of the violations by commercial drivers that officers from the Michigan State Police will be watching for:

  • Improper passing
  • Speeding
  • Improper lane use
  • Distracted driving
  • Drivers following the car in front of them too closely

The traffic safety campaign runs from now until Friday, December 13th. Officers from the Indiana State Police Department, the Illinois State Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol will also be participating in "Eyes on I-94."
