2016 was a great year for the Spartans. All the way up until March 18th.

But that's all history, now.

NEXT year, the Michigan State basketball program welcomes, according to CollegeSpun.com, one of the best batch of freshmen ever to attend orientation. And yes, we're losing Marvin Clark Jr. and Javon Bess, who will transfer to other schools next year. But, that clears the way for Josh Jackson, the No. 1 (or 2) player in America, to pick up one of their scholarship slots.

According to SportingNews.com, Jackson will announce where he'll go to school next week. He's narrowed it down to Michigan State, Kansas or Arizona. But he has family in Detroit. And his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, will be playing basketball for Michigan next year. Kysre, from Benton Harbor, was named Michigan's "Miss Basketball 2016" (and scored 72 points in the opening game of the state tournament)

Hmm. Joshua - take a look at a map. Arizona and Kansas are a LONG way from Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines might just have done us a favor.
