What Makes a College Town "Safe"?
The authors of this study looked at a variety of criteria when determining the safety levels of college towns all across America - things like FBI statistics on violent crimes and property crimes, the presence of community outreach programs, security practices, and other safety measures.
After crunching the numbers and analyzing the data, here are the three Michigan college towns that research.com deems to be among the 30 safest ones in America.
Marquette, Michigan
Marquette, Michigan is home to Northern Michigan University. Nestled along the shore of Lake Superior, Marquette ranks as the 30th-safest college town in the entire country.
Midland, Michigan
Students at Northwood University enjoy the 27th-safest college town in the country: Midland, Michigan.
Rochester Hills, Michigan
Rochester Hills, Michigan - home of Oakland University - rates as the safest college town in Michigan, and the 11th-safest all of the United States.
