Just gonna say it. New York has it bad for us.

Maybe it's because people who used to live around here and moved to big cities keep talking about us to New York. Whatever the case may be, for the second time in the last three months, a hometown news site is telling New York why they should visit us. Specifically, they're telling New York to check out our Leelanau Peninsula.

(Well, that part of us DOES look pretty good. No, we haven't done anything different there. It's always looked that way. Well, since the last ice age. That was a rough patch.)

In April, it was the New York Times Magazine, going on and on about us.

Apparently, they want us to take 'em on more hikes and then they want to drink wine and ride around in our wooden boats.

But, it's tough to turn them down when they're paying for everything. And no, I don't think we should feel bad about that. And when they ditch us and go home after the summer, ('cuz they always do) we'll get together with Wisconsin and Canada. They've been through the same thing. And Canada always has cold beer.

Just don't look at Florida or California's Facebook page this winter. It'll just bum you out.
