Michigan Lottery Club Claims Winnings THE DAY It Would Expire
Picture this. You win on a lottery ticket in Michigan. Not $20, $100 or even a $1,000. YOUR winning ticket is a $25,000 a year FOR LIFE prize.
Now picture this. You DON'T KNOW that you have that winning ticket and it's about to EXPIRE. You see a story on the news that the Michigan Lottery is urging players to check for an unclaimed Lucky For Life ticket that is about to expire and you decide to go through your old tickets and....THERE IT IS.
Sound crazy? Well, it happened today! According to the Michigan Lottery, 84-year-old Robert Hissom bought the ticket at the Picnic Basket in Plymouth on January 1st, 2018. He was purchasing the ticket for the Hissom Lottery Club from Canton. Hissom saw the story on the news about the soon-to-be-expired ticket and decided to go through his old tickets and found the winner. He showed up at the Michigan Lottery headquarters TODAY--the day it was set to expire--to claim his prize. The Michigan Lottery says the club chose to receive their winnings as a one-time payment of $390,000, rather than annual payments of $25,000 for 20 years or life, whichever is greater.
