Detroit Business Owner Wins ‘Lucky for Life’
Do you remember back in March when we had two back to back 'Lucky for Life' winners in Michigan? Well, one of those winners was Detroit native, Roderick Slaughter! He won the 'Lucky for Life' lottery on February 11.
The winning numbers were 07-09-15-31-39 LB: 01
Slaughter told MLive that he doesn't usually play Lucky for Life and decided to switch it up that day.
I usually play the Lotto 47 game but decided to try out the Lucky for Life game. I grabbed my phone the morning after the drawing to check my ticket and couldn’t believe it when I realized I had won. I woke my wife up right away saying: ‘Is this real?!’
When you win, you have the option of receiving $1,000 a day for the rest of your life or 20 years. If you don't want to do the daily payments, you can do a one-time lump-sum of $5.75 million.
Slaughter decided to go with the one-time lump-sum. He's a Detroit business owner and plans on retiring early and creating a legacy fund for his grandchildren's education.
I'm not crying, you're crying. What a guy, am I right?
Slaughter also told MLive that he's looking forward to having more downtime and being able to travel.
Winning this prize allows us to fast forward our plans. We will be able to travel and spend more time with our family.
I'm not the luckiest person, so I barely play the lottery. If you're anything like my best friend and enjoy kicking back with a cigarette and a scratch off, you can visit the official Michigan Lottery site for the latest on the lottery business.
