It's morel mushroom time in Michigan. Time to find, fry and - with the help of a cold beverage - eat'em up. You may already have a favorite mushroom hunting area. I know I usually find a few in my backyard. But, if it don't know where to go, or you want to make a change, the Michigan DNR has published a map of likely places to find them - based on fires.

According to MLive.com, "morel mushrooms are more likely to grow in burned areas where jack, white, or red pine varieties once grew".

So, the DNR came up with a map of places where fires of 10 acres or more occurred last year. The closest to us would be somewhere around Ann Arbor. My guess is that fire was started by burning couches, sometime after the MSU - Michigan football game. (I hear you yelling, Michigan fans)
