But, if you're the kind of person that loves a project, maybe it's for you? Also, with how crazy the market is right now, I'm betting 8,120 square feet for $120,000 will grab a lot of folks' interest!

According to the listing, the two bedroom, two bath, brick schoolhouse at 4219 18th St. in Dorr was built in 1909. It ceased being used as a school in the early 1960s and became a private residence a few years after that.

A sign outside of the building indicates it may been the original St. Stanislaus school in the area, which is now located on 136th Ave. in Dorr.

However, a document on the history of St. Stanislaus Parish states the first school was built in 1885,

Being concerned about the education of their children, the settlers built a parochial school before their church. This structure was constructed in 1885 on part of the two acres donated by Michael Burchardt and served as school and convent. For the first two years, a lay teacher was hired (whose identity is unknown to us at this time.) The Felician nuns came in 1887 upon the request of Fr. Ponganis.

As far as more recent history, per the obituary of the last owner, Anthony Rakowski, in the mid 60s he converted the upper area into an apartment and opened a shop on the main level called Back Dorr Antique and Gifts, which remained in business for the next 50 years.

Tony bought, sold restored and collected antiques. He also had a keen interest in local history and amassed a collection of written works along with local and family artifacts, and religious icons – statuary and works of art.

It sounds like Mr. Rakowski played a large role in helping document and celebrate the history of Dorr:

He was involved in the 1969 history written about Dorr for its centennial celebration, and worked with a group of volunteers who organized the 4th of July festivities that year.

Seven years later, in 1976, he was instrumental in getting pictures, doing interviews, and verifying legends and stories for the subsequent history of Dorr and its people to celebrate our nation’s 200th birthday.

If you check out the gallery below, it appears that many treasures still remain in the old schoolhouse, like antique furniture, art, and fixtures. According to the listing, there will be a public auction the morning of February 26th for the sale of personal items in the building. You can find info on the estate sale here!

While the place definitely needs some TLC, it's got so much potential! What would you turn it into? I'm thinking it could be really cool as a coffee shop, maybe brewery with retail space!

Check out the photos and see what you think! There are some interesting things to take in for sure - like a ceiling made of garage doors! Personally, I love the teal bath tub and the library!
