Lansing Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy Is Back
According to WLNS, the Lansing Police Department's Citizen Police Academy is coming back. Plans to bring back the academy will be announced later today. The academy gives people the chance to learn more about what it takes to be a police officer. Officials hope the academy can help to clear up misconceptions about the police and better the relationship between officers and the community.
According to the City of Lansing website, anyone 18 years of age and older who lives or works within the City of Lansing is encouraged to apply to the academy. It is a 33 hour course of instruction designed to provide the public "a working knowledge of the Police department's personnel, work group functions, policies and other job specific practices." A variety of topics will be covered including, criminal investigations, patrol, policies, crime prevention, specialized equipment, and more. To apply for the academy, click here.
And, just because, here's the infamous "citizen's arrest" from The Andy Griffith Show. Enjoy!
