Yesterday (Tuesday), the Lansing Police Department introduced their new cellphone app. According to WILX-TV, the new app will feed you alerts from the LPD, as well as weather and traffic info. You'll also be able to communicate with the Lansing Police easier when it comes to giving them anonymous tips or filing a police report. The app is available for both Apple and Android devices. And it's free, of course.

This will give the police more eyes and ears in the community and get the word out easier in emergency situations.

According to Chief of Police Daryl Green, "One of the things I've always said that as a 21st-century police agency we have to embrace 21st-century technologies that increase accessibility, increase our ability to engage with community members, so that's what this does."
