Back in my day, there used to be toys inside the cereal box...

Wow, my elder millennial is showing just typing that. But it's true! Growing up in the '90s in Michigan meant that cereal boxes used to come with toys in them—there was none of this 'scan this QR code and we'll send you an email' nonsense. It was like having a little mini treasure hunt with your breakfast. Or, if you had siblings, it was a fight over whose turn it was to get the toy.

Michigan Cereal Maker is Bringing Back Toys in Cereal

Well, if you're a '90s kid looking for a little nostalgia, one Michigan cereal company has you covered because they're bringing back toys in cereal boxes!

Michigan's Kellogg Company is bringing back toys inside cereal boxes for the first time in over a decade! However, don't get too used to it, as this is a limited-time run.

It's all tied to Toy Story 5 hitting theaters June 19. Thanks to this pairing between Toy Story and Kellogg, breakfast is going to taste like 1997.

Which Cereals Have Toys Inside?

All the classics—Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, and Corn Pops— now with actual prizes inside. No QR codes. No apps. Just a real, physical toy.

If you want to get your hands on one of these limited-time cereal boxes, they're available nationwide as of April 26. I'm sure a lot of people will want to introduce their kids to the concept of toys inside a cereal box.

Either way, let’s be honest: these toys aren’t for them. They’re for us. For the adults who, without a doubt, are about to buy several boxes "for the kids"—and then save one just for themselves.
