15 Halloween Costumes Michigan’s Already Tired of This Year
Halloween isn't even here yet and we are already sick of some of these costumes.
Getting dressed up in a great costume for Halloween is all part of the fun. However, some people just go for the easy costumes each year. Depending on what is in the news or what is happening in the entertainment world, many times certain costumes will be overplayed by a long shot.
You can pretty much back on the fact the you will see characters from the top three or four movies and TV shows from the year. This year is no different and we can already tell which costumes are going to be overplayed.
Mind you, this is just my opinion, but after doing just a few simple google searches for costume ideas, it is very obvious what we are going to see a lot of. Keep scrolling to see what we think will be the most overplayed costumes for Halloween 2023.
This is in no way bashing these costumes if that is what you decided to be. I'm just simply stating that you will not be alone. Also, this isn't really directed at young kids (hell, I dressed up as a ninja three years in a row as young kid.) If you are in your late teens (and adults for that matter,) get more creative with it! I did not include the obvious go-to costumes like witches, ghosts, etc...
Ken and Barbie
Thanks to the Barbie movie being released in July, we are definitely going to see every variation of Barbie and Ken. Cowboy Barbie. Rollerskating Barbie. All of them.
Wednesday Addams
Don't get me wrong, I had a huge crush on Christina Ricci playing Wednesday when I was a kid. However, with the new Netflix series starring Jenna Ortega, this costume will be everywhere.
Ariel from The Little Mermaid
Since the release of the new movie in May, Ariel has been revitalized for those young and old.
Rihanna at Super Bowl 2023
According to a Nielsen report in May of 2023, Rihanna's performance at halftime during Super Bowl 2023, that performance is officially the most-watched halftime show of all time.
Taylor Swift
After the success of her massive tour, The Eras Tour, expect to see a lot of little Swifties showing up at your door this Halloween.
Morticia Addams
Morticia Addams has always been a great go-to costume for Halloween, but much like the Wednesday Addams costume, we will see a ton more of them because of the recent TV series.
Katniss Everdeen - The Hunger Games
Fans of The Hunger Games are bringing back the Katniss costumes due to the next film in the franchise set to be released on November 17th, 2023, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe is a stable of Halloween costumes and even more so now after the release of the Blonde documentary.
Joel & Ellie from The Last of Us
I love the HBO series The Last of Us and many fans will be dressing up as Joel & Ellie this year.
M3GAN
Easy to replicate and super creepy. Self-aware A.I. is something we should all fear, but not dress up as. M3GAN reminds me of a terrifying scorned ex-girlfriend.
Carmy from The Bear
I don't even know what this show is, but the costume idea pops up in almost every Google search. It is pretty easy to get the pieces for the costume, but I wouldn't recognize it.
Mario & Luigi
When you have Chris Pratt, Jack Black, and Charlie Day all voicing parts in 2023's The Super Mario Bros. Movie, we will definitely see plenty of the plumbers out there this year.
Oppenheimer
Another top suggestion out there is J. Robert Oppenheimer after the hugely successful 2023 film Oppenheimer, played by Cillian Murphy.
Ted Lasso
I'm pretty sure we will see a lot of people dressed as Ted Lasso for many years to come.
Harley Quinn
This one just needs to stop! For the last several years I have seen countless versions of Harley Quinn. Stop it!
