The losing is reaching legendary proportions for the Detroit Pistons now.

Make it 25 straight losses for the once-proud franchise, as they lost to the 11-18 Utah Jazz on Thursday night, 119-111, at a vocal Little Caesars Arena.

And the Jazz won the game without several of their best players in uniform.  Lauri Markkanen and Jordan Clarkson among them.  And a former Piston, Kelly Olynyk, came back to haunt his former team by scoring 25 points to lead Utah to the victory.

The 25 straight losses is now one short of the single-season losing streak record of 26, held by the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers and the 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers.

The all-time longest losing streak is 28 straight defeats, held by the aforementioned 76ers over parts of two seasons (2014-15 and 2015-16).

And there is a great possibility that your Detroit Pistons could set the record very soon.  Here is their upcoming schedule (as of this writing on the morning of December 22nd):

December 23rd - @ Brooklyn

December 26th - Home vs. Brooklyn

December 28th - @ Boston

December 30th - Home vs. Toronto

January 1st - @ Houston

January 3rd - @ Utah

January 5th - @ Golden State

January 7th - @ Denver

January 9th - Home vs. Sacramento

January 10th - Home vs. San Antonio

You tell me where there is a lock win in there.  There isn't one.  Their best chances to win are the December 26th home game against the Brooklyn Nets and the January 10th home game against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.  They're not winning any of the road games seen above.

And people are starting to care about this.  Did you hear the "Sell The Team!" chants during the Utah game?  And they're also caring because, in a perverse way, they want to see this team make history and break the record.  And possibly put it out of sight.  It is not out of the realm of possibility that this streak could reach in excess of 30 games in a row.

Maybe if they set the record, that will force team owner Tom Gores to fire everybody in the basketball operations department, except for head coach Monty Williams (who's in the first year of a six-year contract).  Because it is obvious that they have failed their boss, the coaches, the players, and the fans.

And if Gores doesn't do something, then NBA commissioner Adam Silver needs to step in and assume control of the team.  Having one of their most historic franchises (and the Detroit Pistons ARE a historic franchise in the NBA) give the league bad publicity is not something Silver or the other suits in Secaucus, New Jersey really like.  They may have to take over on an emergency basis.

Apathy has permeated this franchise for years.  That's not happening anymore.  But it's for the WRONG reasons.  Tom Gores...DO SOMETHING!!!  And if you won't, then sell the team to someone who cares about winning.  Or Adam Silver, put somebody in place that will care about winning.

Because we're tired of this crap!!!!
