We are down to the state football finals at Ford Field.  And after last week's semifinals, only one area team is through to Detroit.

That would be Mason, who took out two-time defending Division 3 state champion Detroit Martin Luther King in the semifinals last Saturday at Chelsea High School, 26-20.

Even though Mason has been a stellar program for years, it's their first-ever trip to the state finals in football.  Congratulations to head coach Gary Houghton, his staff, and all the players for that great accomplishment.

The 13-0 Bulldogs will play Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 for the Division 3 state title.  You'll hear it right here on The Game 730 AM WVFN.  In fact, you'll hear all eight state championship games right here on your trusted source for high school sports coverage, The Game 730 AM WVFN and the Lansing Sports Network.

Also, a nod to the other teams that made the semifinals, but saw their seasons come to an end with losses last Saturday.  Congratulations to East Lansing, Portland, and Ovid-Elsie for making it as far as they did.

This is the next to last poll for the high school football season.  The last one will be posted next week after the state finals are completed.

And the same ten teams that were in the poll last week are in the poll this week in the same spot.  And the same will be true next week, too.  I'm not moving down Mason if they lose in the state finals on Sunday.

We'll also have unofficial "awards" for the high school season next week.  Stuff like "Best Game", "Best Performance", things like that.

Alright, on with this week's poll:
