The Detroit Tigers announced on social media Tuesday that they have signed Justin Verlander to a one-year contract for the 2026 season.

The addition of the 43-year-old three-time Cy Young winner and nine-time All-Star had fans cheering in the comment section.

Shortly after the announcement on social media, the Tigers put out a release providing a few more details of the deal. Verlander's deal is a one-year $13 million contract ($11 million deferred).

Last week, the Tigers signed Framber Valdez to a three-year contract. Valdez and Verlander will join powerhouse pitcher Tarik Skubal on the mound for the Tigers in the 2026 season.
