Distracted driving is one of the most preventable causes of accidents in Michigan, and unfortunately our younger drivers tend to be the most likely to check their phone while they're on the road.

That's why this year the Kelsey’s Law Distracted Driving Awareness Scholarship is returning to help spread an important message while helping students in Michigan afford college. The initiative is aimed at honoring 17-year-old Kelsey Raffaele of Sault Ste. Marie who passed away in 2010 due to distracted driving. Kelsey's story serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of distracted driving, and this scholarship seeks to empower Michigan students to be part of the solution.

In order to be in the running for one of four scholarships, including the top prize of $2,000, they're asking High School Juniors and Seniors in Michigan to craft a persuasive message that encourages fellow drivers, especially new ones, to steer clear of distractions while behind the wheel. Whether it's through a video, graphic, or Tweet, they want you to let your creativity shine as you deliver a compelling call to action.

But what makes a winning entry? Well, it's all about your ability to persuade, captivate, and inspire. Your message should resonate with your peers, grab their attention, and deliver a clear and impactful reminder of the dangers of texting while driving. Think outside the box and showcase your unique voice and vision.
