By this time of the year, many high school seniors have already received those acceptance letters and know which college they'll be headed to in the fall. Did you or someone you know get accepted to Michigan's most exclusive school?

A new article from 24/7 Wall St. dives into hardest colleges and universities to get into in each state, using data from the National Center for Education Statistics. They took into account admissions rate and the median SAT score among students admitted in the fall of 2022.

The toughest college to get into in Michigan? University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Out of 27 schools in the Mitten State they looked at, it ranked as the most elusive for prospective students.

Here's a breakdown of U-M's stats:

  • Admissions rate: 17.7%
  • Median SAT scores: 720 in reading and writing, 750 in math
  • Undergraduate students: 32,063 (70% receive financial aid)
  • Avg. annual cost of attendance: $17,086
  • Graduation rate: 93%
  • Median annual earnings 10-yrs. after entry: $79,580

Now, an admission rate of less than 18% might indeed seem low, but there are other schools across the country that appear much tougher to get into, particularly in the northeast, where many ivy league institutions are located.

In case you're curious, here are the admission rates for some of those schools:

  • Yale University, Connecticut - 4.6% admissions rate
  • Dartmouth College, New Hampshire - 6.4% admissions rate
  • Princeton University, New Jersey - 5.7% admissions rate
  • Columbia University, New York - 3.9% admissions rate

Well, U-M might been seen as "more exclusive", but one area that rival MSU comes out on top? Partying:
