As I left the house today heading to the WITL studio here in Lansing, it was the coldest day of the fall so far. I was thinking it may be time to get an ice scraper for the car. Getting up at 4 AM, I'm sure it won't be long before I'll be scraping the ice and snow off my car. That thought made me frown as I walked to my ride.

Snow. Yep they got 8 inches in Marquette on Sunday according to Clickondetroit.com.  Now I know it's colder up there in the Upper Peninsula, but it is only 400 miles away from Lansing...

Clickondetroit reports that the 8.3 inches of snow they got there broke the record of 3.1 inches that was set in 1976. It was also a record for the amount of snowfall in October.

Not sure I would want to live up there...how about you? Now I don't mind some snow and cold temps through the winter, but it's tough and gets annoying when it starts this early in the year. I mean, spring is still 5 months away.

Is it a bad sign that it's already snowing in Michigan? It probably won't be long until we see some flurries here in Lansing too.

Just in case it is a tough winter,  I'll keep thinking of all the fun we can have like skiing, sledding and having a snowball fight with neighbors.

What are some of your favorite things to do in the winter?
