I have always been a big fan of balloons. I'm not sure why, but whenever I see balloons it always makes me happy. When I was at the grocery store over the weekend, I saw a person buying a whole bunch of 'Happy Birthday' balloons and it instantly made me smile. Maybe I'm weird, but I think I'd rather get some balloons as a gift over flowers and chocolate. Weird, right? Even one of my favorite songs is about balloons. Ninety-nine red ones to be exact. (Nena- 99 Luftballoons from 1984.)

Anyway, you might be seeing people buying a bunch of balloons this month because June is actually 'National Give a Bunch of Balloons Month'. According to the National Day Calendar, it's a chance to bring "joy to a child battling an illness or struggling with a life-altering diagnosis." They say that if you know a child who is ill at home or might be spending time in the hospital, you should take them a bunch of brightly colored balloons.

If you've never heard of 'National Give a Bunch of Balloons Month' it could be because it's kind of a new thing. According to National Day Calendar, it actually just got started in 2019. You can click here to read more. Now, get out there and buy some balloons!
