Gas Prices Jump Significantly In Michigan
I sure hope you filled up your gas tank on Monday because if you didn't you could be in for a bit of sticker shock this morning at the gas pump. Early Monday morning at the gas station near the radio station, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $2.36. This morning, it's up to $2.79.
And what a difference a day makes. Yesterday, the report from AAA was that gas prices in Michigan had actually dropped 9 cents compared to a week ago. Their report on Monday said that "Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $2.57 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 18 cents less than this time last month and about 37 cents less than this time last year."
So why the increase? Well, AAA says it's because crude oil prices are rising after attacks on oil fields in Saudi Arabia over the weekend. They actually posted a story on Monday warning drivers that a price increase would be happening this week. You can read more about the increase by clicking here.
